In a decade when technology makes its presence felt in every aspect of our lives, we sometimes discover things that bring back sweet memories from the past. I don't want this to sound like some cheesy children tale, but to be honest, in our days, from many kids’ points of view, the Need for Speed series is more attractive than the classic bicycle races and Counter Strike successfully replaced the slingshots and water guns. Moreover, the beloved football played on the street is more likely to be deposed by the third title from the series with the same name, FIFA Street.
Released alongside FIFA 2008, FIFA Street 3 keeps the tradition going: it offers cool sensations, very close to what one might call "street football", with all its bells and whistles. A brief summary: no referee will ever bother you for committing an offside/fault; there are no restrictions, therefore red cards and disqualifications are things of the past. As a result, the pitch is all yours, and you can hit the walls and take the ball away from your opponents in the most brutal ways. There are still moments when the ball will leave the pitch, but it happens so rarely that you won't even notice.
Although its predecessor was considered mediocre, in my opinion, most of the players and critics overlook an essential aspect. Just like NBA Court, the FIFA Street series wasn't created to keep gamers in front of their TVs for a long time-like FPSs and RPGs do, but to give you and your friends a great option to enjoy a friendly football match. And, from some points of view, I think that they have succeeded.

Impressed by the game's soundtrack and after some time spent in the "Practice" mode, I excitedly clicked the "FIFA Street Challenge". I started with one of the two teams available at the beginning in order to achieve the supreme street champion title. But this is only theory, because there are nine tournaments (each having 4-6 matches with different objectives), during which you'll have to prove your skills against other football teams. And despite the fact that the producers have included stars like Ronaldinho, Rooney or Del Piero next to the other 200 players from 18 different countries, this will not change my mind concerning the "FIFA Street Challenge" mode, because you won't get the feeling of evolving to the title, because the tournaments can become boring. You’ll have to score 5 goals, score the most goals in a fixed time limit, or score only through volley/head kick techniques. It seems to be very interesting in the beginning, but the rule is applied every time until the game's end. Nothing innovative is brought into the game, and I personally felt like I was playing against the same opponents over and over again.
I would have really enjoyed playing the role of a young boy, living at the city's periphery who doesn't know how to kick a ball properly, who then recruits some friends, creates a team and starts a tour against other teams, with the main goal being to achieve the city champ title. It would have been awesome if, based on the results and some training, your abilities would have improved, and the adventure continued with the city, national and world team. They could have created a little story based on this idea without too much trouble. And if in ordinary football games, the single-player possibilities are limited, in FIFA Street they offered the designers a variety of opportunities. A pity they didn’t take advantage of them. I don't see this fact as a producer's mistake mind you, but more like a disappointment, because I am sure most of us would have appreciated a significant improvement of the single-player mode and this would have been a good thing for EA, financially speaking.
