Welcome to Ashan, the world of Might and Magic! Open your eyes and see the beauty of the Falcon Empire or as we now know it The Holy Griffin Empire, the proud elf kingdom of Irollan, the horrific House of Ashes, home of the Necromancers or why not, the simplicity of Stonehelm. These are all parts of the new world of Might and Magic, a world created by Ubisoft after acquiring the Might and Magic franchise, since New World Computing vanished into the Great Fiscal Void. Ashan is actually a name derived from Asha, the Dragon of Order and mother to all things including the world of Ashan and the six Dragons. Asha is one of the two Primordial Dragons, together with Urgash, the Dragon of Chaos, a deity worshipped only by the demon race.

All the Might and Magic lore is now based on the eternal fight between these two factions, the demons, followers of Urgash and the other races of Ashan, followers of Mother Asha or any of the six Dragons. The eternal hate between the wizards and the necromancers is fueling yet another war, but this is a story someone else should unveil. The timeline of Ashan’s history is pretty chaotic and it doesn’t really serve the purpose of this review. All I can tell you is that sometime during all these wars, Sar-Elam, a very powerful wizard also known as the Seventh Dragon, sacrificed himself in order to create a prison for the demons, who, this way, would be banished for ever from the world of Ashan. Unfortunately, one tiny flaw existed in Sar-Elam’s magic ritual and so, the prison would allow the demons to free themselves during a lunar eclipse. That’s how in 843 YSD, the year of the 4th eclipse (Year of the Seventh Dragon with 0 YSD being the year when Sar-Elam sacrificed himself), the Demon Sovereign Kha-Beleth invaded the Falcon Empire. In the end he was put to rest yet again in the same prison, only to rise twice during the 5th and 6th eclipses of 951 and 969 YSD. After 969 YSD, the War of Queen Isabel starts, with her deeds told in Heroes of Might and Magic V.
