Driv3r is incredible and it has a certain originality attached to it, especially in the beginning. Let me explain. I'm at home and I have to drive to the Police Station. I press WASD and move the mouse. Ooops! Invert mouse on. I hit Esc and I see a menu. I choose Settings and Invert mouse is not there. I say to myself that life sucks and I quit the game to access the main menu and the main settings. I set invert mouse off and begin a new game. The same house, but now I can move freely and after a while, I find a garage. Hmm, I have a car. Let's press E to get inside. I do that and Tanner (the main character) gets in the car. I hit W and the camera turns 180 degrees on the horizontal. Hmm, it could be the arrow. Ooops! It's not! Numpad 8? Nope. What the fuck?!?!?! I hit Esc a second time, go to Settings and surprise. You cannot adjust the control, unless you're in the main menu. Life sucks, so I quit the game again, and check the controls. Forward is ', reverse is / and left and right are Z and X. OK! Let's leave them untouched for now. New game, blah-blah house, blah-blah garage and off I go to the Police Station. I get there and an officer tells me that I should exercise a little bit of shooting. My favorite! The door closes behind me and I have nothing in my hands. H...H, H, H?!?!? Nothing happens. Just targets appear and disappear in front of me. Well, life sucks so I quit game, check the controls (it was fucking Tab, not H from holster weapon as I encountered in countless games...fucking morons). At least reload is R. New game, house, garage, Police station and the door closes behind me, but now I have a gun in my hands. The first target shows up and I'm all excited so I press the left mouse button and... My character stays still. WHAT THE FUCK?!?! Quit game, options, I don't remember what it was, but I also check everything else just to be sure and I start a new game. I shoot all the targets, I'm happy, as happy as I can be after starting the game so many times, and I begin the next mission, my first real mission. I'm outside. I have to find a car and chase a Police car, which is heading towards a hostage situation. As I wasn't too good at driving, I had to try it a few times. More then ten actually. In fact, I also couldn't walk properly because of the high sensitivity of the mouse. By the way, can you imagine any game without a setting for sensitivity? It's just a look sensitivity setting which should do the trick, but unfortunately, any change I made had no effect in the game. Maybe it's my crappy Logitech mouse. Once I started this mission, the game began to save, so continue game became immediately my favorite. Unfortunately, the trauma was so deep that I had to quit the game and take a brake. What fucking moron deigned the game? How’s that possible not to be able to adjust the controls while you're playing? Well, let's say I accept this, but they could have introduced a few pop-ups to familiarize me with the keys. I wonder who would play Driv3r after all this pathetic first impression.
Driv3r makes you go nuts (as it wasn't obvious just by reading the intro). Take this for example. It's 03:25 AM and it's been an hour since I began trying to accomplish a mission. This means that I've tried around 20 or 25 times to do it. Don't be scared, afraid or nervous. No, no, no! Driv3r will eat you alive if you give up. Fortunately, something made me try repeatedly. It's the storyline and especially Michael Madsen's voice, which fits Tanner perfectly. There's a shocking fact about Driv3r. On one hand, we have the cars/boats/motorcycles, which go left or right at the slightest touch of the keys and the worst 3D engine ever, but on the other hand, I listened to the best soundtrack ever and to the perfect voice acting. How's that possible? I cannot believe I was capable of so much hate and anger while playing the missions from Driv3r.
