When I was a kid, I loved to imagine I'm a soldier on a battlefield or better, a mighty general. I'd play with my friends and plan different scenarios, recreating a warlike atmosphere and enjoying ourselves. Then, I found gaming and all my imagination finally came to life in all the titles CDV launched over the years. It was a world full of war, tactics and tanks, all the things I used to imagine when I was a kid. In the first half of 2004, the Burning Horizon add-on was released and it changed a few aspects of the initial game. Burning Horizon offered a campaign led by the General Erwin Rommel and as it was quite normal that a few months later a second add-on saw the light, this time the hero being General Patton. Continuing the series was obvious, as long as Blitzkrieg was one of CDV's main titles.

If the Burning Horizon campaign started in Europe and then shifted on the African front, in the case of Rolling Thunder, the situation is reversed. George Patton begins its action in Morocco in 1942 thinking about annihilating the German troops and their allies, especially the troops of the Vichy government. The American campaign stretches over 18 missions, while the player's reaction times and patience will be tested in battles that influenced the faith of the Second World War. Therefore, I've decided to embark in a glorious mission and free not only the entire Europe, but also the world. I'd rather played with the famous Tiger, Panther or had the support of the Luftwaffe, but I had to be on the American side. The abilities I had in Blitzkrieg were still present but there are a few improvements, which help the player with the maneuverability of the units and which allow visualization and a tactic control from a general perspective. This time they combined infantry groups, so you can form a battalion out of many types of infantry, exactly like in a real case scenario.
