Program Started Opening War Journal Date: April 12, 40.000 Planet: Tartarus Chapter: Blood Ravens Day 1: Today we arrived on Tartarus. My squad was among the first deployed on the planet, to help the Imperial Guard, under the command of colonel Brom, to stave of an Orc assault. And although I heard about the violence and brutality of the holy war fought in the Emperor's name, what followed next shocked me beyond belief: the Orcs attacked us with such violence, that we had to engage them in melee combat, hacking and slashing our way through. The Dreadnought and Predator that came with us were both destroyed in the attack, leaving us without armor support, and our sergeant died gloriously, getting the Blood Raven flag up the hill we were ordered to take. After the skirmish, Captain Gabriel Angelos arrived with the rest of the Space Marines and a few servitors, which immediately started building our stronghold. The situation is calm for now, the Orcs having retreated in order to attack us again, with even greater numbers. Somehow, the war just isn't as patriotic as I though it would be.
Day 2: The Orcs keep attacking us, despite the fact that we've already repelled everything they've thrown at us. Not even our heavy bolter turrets, deployed around the base, seem to slow the down. Worst still, we are quickly running out of resources. Those that were given to us at the start of the campaign were quickly spent and now we have to leave the safety of our base in order to capture strategic points spread throughout the city, so that we may receive more requisition points, which we can then use to call in additional reinforcements or expand the base. Unfortunately, strategic points take time until they're secured and the squad that is trying to capture them is left vulnerable to Orc attacks. Good thing that the servitors can build listening posts on captured strategic points, which can then be upgraded to increase their resistance against attacks, which can come at any time, since the Orcs can hide among the ruins of the ravaged cities. Thank the Emperor for those craters that can provide us with various degrees of cover against ranged attacks. For now, we've been ordered to use ranged weapons against the Orcs, since they seem to be stronger in melee combat.
