What is Syberia? A place? A dream? An adventure? Now that I got to the end of it, I'm kind of sad. I don't know why I get this idea that everything beautiful either disappears or vanishes. Why? The misery we live each day forces us to dream. Yes, it's her, the last prisoner of the Pandora's Box, the hope. Some say it never dies. I say it dies when you see your dreams come true but then it shows up again, unexpectedly, in some forgotten corner of your life. Unfortunately for us, this was the last syberian dream.
As you expected, the story begins where it ended in the first part with Hans and Kate on their way together with Oscar, the automaton. Those of you who don't know what I'm talking about should play the first game. It's an unforgettable experience. As I said, while her mother and her employers are preparing her retrieval in New York, she continues her journey without looking back. It's true that during the game, especially between locations, there are small movies showing their concerns and their “helpful” intentions of stopping Kate but their direct communication with her is not as intense as in the first part. It seems that her cell phone isn't working very well in the frozen Russia, with few exceptions of course, like the communication with Oscar through an implant in the automaton made by Hans. The few locations like Romansburg, the monastery, the mountain hut, the Youkol village or the Syberia Island may seem a too brief description of the game. We're dealing with a short game indeed, but I don't think this can affect its impact on us.
